Sony RAW 2
The predecessor to the modern ARW format.
SR2 is an older raw image format used by early Sony digital cameras, particularly the Cyber-shot R1 and early DSLRs before the Alpha branding fully took over with the ARW format. It contains raw sensor data, allowing for the same kind of editing flexibility as modern raw files, but from older sensor technology.
SR2 is a TIFF-based format. It typically stores 12-bit data. The encryption used in SR2 files was a point of contention in the early days of open-source raw decoding.
Sony used SRF, then SR2, and finally settled on ARW. SR2 represents the middle child of this evolution.
X PixMap

XPM (X PixMap) is the usage successor to XBM. It allows for color images (and transparency) to be stored as C source code arrays. It was the standard format for icons in the Common Desktop Environment (CDE) and many Unix window managers.
An XPM file is valid C code defining a character array: `static char * icon[] = { ... }`. The data defines a color palette (mapping characters like '.' or '#' to hex colors) and then draws the image using those characters. This makes it human-readable and editable in a text editor.
